Macleans illustration
Here's another piece I did for Macleans magazine. It's a frame honouring the life of an avid sportsman and Special Olympian. I really enjoy playing with the balance between grey and black in these pieces. Because the colours are always so simple it frees me up to focus solely on the composition. It's a welcome challenge, coming up with different ways to compose illustrations that have the same framing shape to them, and to not really have a focal point! I also love doing work that is symmetrical -- not perfect symmetrical, but balanced.

Okami T
Warcraft Paladin or... THOR!!
I mentioned earlier that my boyfriend plays a female draenei paladin in World of Warcraft. I even made him a shirt with his toon on it. So for another gift, I decided to do the Warcraft paladin logo. Some people interpret it as Thor's hammer, which also works!
Ryu Super Ultra Combo Finisher
Another shirt for the boyfriend. He has an intense Super Street Fighter 4 rivalry with his friend. Ryu vs. Ken. Yeah, they are practically the same character, but don't tell them that! Honestly, what with Sakura, Akuma, and Gouken, Capcom got lazy, eh? KIDDING! They all have their subtleties, etc. Don't shoryuken me, please!
Here's the shirt I made of that arrogant rival, Ken. :P
More t-shirts!

Happy Valentine's Day! aka M.O.D.O.K. vs ServDido
My boyfriend and I are waiting with great anticipation for the upcoming Marvel vs. Capcom 3. It's coming out tomorrow, wheeeee!! Here's the card I painted for him.
He is most looking forward to playing M.O.D.O.K., the malevolent, epically-headed Marvel villain. My favourite fighter is Servbot, a wee helpful Capcom robot who looks like a Lego dude. Sadly Servbot isn't in the starting line-up for the game, but I hope he'll eventually be downloadable content.
I've painted cards like this for years. It's a series that features my cats. Dido is a very eager to please cat -- I thought Servbot was particularly appropriate for her. She is very dog-like.
He's hoping to pick up the special edition of the game, it's only $10 more and has an art book. When I went to Electronic Boutique today they were already sold out of it. We'll try our luck at Best Buy tomorrow, fingers crossed!

Art prints, iphone cases, and more!
Just started my Society6 store page, I love the site's features. I put up this centipede piece -- You can now enjoy it as a high-quality art print, an iphone case, or other fun things! Also put up another decorative piece and definitely will be adding more in the future.
Here's that other piece:

Shoryuken!
Another gift t-shirt! The giftee is a big Super Street Fighter 4 fan (and an even bigger Ken fan!) and just so happened to pick out a red shirt without knowing what I was planning on putting on it. The colour combo couldn't have been more perfect!
I'm particularly proud of this shirt because it took a fair bit of finagling on my part to get a Ken image fit to screenprint. Google Image Search "Street Fighter Ken" and you'll probably find the image I worked from, but it's not nearly crisp enough to use as is.

Emoburger!
When Tom over at the Weekly Alibi sends me a job he sometimes offers up an idea or two to get the ball rolling. While I do like to come up with my own ideas for illustrations, occasionally he has a real gem that I just can't resist. "Emoburger" was such a gem. "Can you make an emo hamburger with a lettuce leaf over one eye?" He asked me. How could I not?
The swoosh of hair on top of the bun is a bit bizarre, but without it I felt that emoburger looked like he was wearing a skullcap and that it was hard to read the face with the one eye and all the burger trimmings.
I've been experimenting with knocking out some of the lines in my work and just using coloured shapes in places. This is my second try at it, my surly Jeannie was the first. It's definitely something I want to explore further in the future.
